COURSE OVERVIEW

MISSION:  To enhance performance and increase safety by recognizing threats and mitigating errors through training.

PURPOSE OF HUMAN FACTORS TRAINING: The purpose of Human Factors Training is to maximize safety by minimizing the occurrence of accidents and incidents caused by human error.  There will always be inherent threats and opportunities for error in every work sector.   Individuals must be proficient in both technical skills and Threat and Error Management (TEM).   Increased performance and safety rely on total implementation and “buy-in” throughout an organization’s training program.  It must be understood, however, that this training is only one part of the answer to improving performance and enhancing the current safety culture.   Therefore, people must understand and recognize their potential to commit errors, in order to minimize the chance for those errors to occur.  It is designed to enhance, not replace, current safety procedures and training programs
